Azopt Eye Drop 1% (5 ml) is a prescription medication primarily used to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients suffering from glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By lowering the pressure in the eye, it helps to prevent vision loss or damage to the optic nerve. This medication belongs to the class of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, which work by decreasing the production of fluid in the eye.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.
- Do not use Azopt Eye Drop if you are allergic to Brinzolamide or any of its components.
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney or liver problems.
- Use with caution if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
- Contact lenses should be removed before applying the drops and reinserted after 15 minutes.
- Do not drive or operate heavy machinery immediately after use, as blurred vision may occur.
Common side effects include:
- Blurred vision
- Dryness or irritation in the eyes
- Bitter or unusual taste in the mouth
- Sensitivity to light
- Eye pain or swelling
- Persistent redness
- Signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, dizziness).
- Wash your hands thoroughly before application.
- Shake the bottle well.
- Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket.
- Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) as prescribed by your doctor, usually 2-3 times daily.
- Close your eyes for a minute and press gently on the inner corner to prevent the medication from draining out.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
